Attached is my existing logo. This was a collaborative effort - the original outline of the design was done by a designer and then I changed it a bit and added color etc. This has worked fine for the last 18 months but I have always wanted to develop it, make it more professional and add some secondary color somehow. I'm about to start printing a pop-up tent for a farmers' market and various other projects so I need to get my logo right first.
What I like about the existing logo:
- The cake stand - but it doesn't have to stay in this format/shape, it could be more stylized, taller, whatever - just something that lets people know that baking is what I do - however no whisks or wooden spoons etc, would prefer something that speaks of the end product, not the baking process
- The shade of brown - it says chocolate, to me, which is a good thing for a baker:) People recognize my logo now so I need to keep some visual links with the old design for continuity.
What I would like to change:
- The font - I like it but it's too limiting as when you get to the smaller sizes it just fills in solid instead of showing the lines. Would like to change the font to something more flexible, but still elegant. A script font is fine as long as it's not too whimsical. I would also like an additional font to use for the body text of my labels etc - right now I'm loving some of the modern, tall thin fonts - something that works well with the logo font, whatever that ends up being.
- The layout: I would like to have a version of the logo that incorporates a description of what I make, for business cards and promotional items. So, for instance: logo + Louise Sandy + Bespoke Baking or Custom Cakes
- Color: I like the brown but I would like to be able to incorporate a secondary color to give it more life. Ideally it would be in the pale blue/duck egg spectrum, or another shade of brown, but I'm open to ideas - except no pink, yellow or orange. My boxes are dark chocolate brown, so I kind of have to stick with that somewhere!
What I make: custom, high end wedding cakes, birthday cakes, cupcakes, decorated cookies, cake pops.
What I don't want in the logo: absolutely no cupcake designs/drawings; no pink, yellow or orange, no overt girliness - I am definitely not a pink cupcake shop
What I want people to think of when they see my logo: elegant, stylish verging towards minimal, artisan.
Things I like: Farrow & Ball paint colors; modern English style (I'm English by birth) - think London gastropub; driftwood and sea glass; clean elegant lines.
I hope that gives you enough information to work with - please feel free to email me with more questions if not!
Thanks
Louise
