Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We need a logo design for our company/brand WHERE NORTH MEETS SOUTH.

We design and sell products. See images attached.

The logo may use colour but needs to work equally well when printed in black and white or greyscale.

The company/brand is named Where North Meets South because the two founding partners Åsa Jonasson and Peter Harding are from opposite ends of the earth. Åsa is from Gothenburg, Sweden (NORTH) and I am from Adelaide, Australia (SOUTH).

When we create designs together they are inevitably influenced by both cultures and therefore the name Where North Meets South is intended to convey this idea and our design aesthetic.

As well as designing our own products we will also commission other designers to create work for us in line with our design aesthetic.

Old/Young, Traditional/Modern, Cold/Hot, Dark/Bright, Restrained/Open, Connected/Isolated.

A New Place/Space: Where North Meets South is not just a brand or company it is a place/space where we come together to create. The space in which north and south meet/cross over is a place where something new is created that is not from the north or the south but both at the same time.

Family: We recently got married and when that happend we realised that something new was created; a family. Where North Meets South is similar in the way that it exist as a third entity of us, dependent on us but also independent of us at the same time. The idea is that it will grow like a family and hopefully live on after we stop working. We may have started it and set up the philosophy but once established it should grow and evolve with each new member just like family does.

Our hero company/brand is Marimekko: www.marimekko.com. They commission 2D art/print designs and then apply those designs to a range of products in the form of homewares and fashion. The company and their designs are Finnish and represent a unique Finnish/Scandinavian design culture and aesthetic.
