Poster-Design Kurzbeschreibung

Summary:
This project is for a poster that will be used to promote a community treasure hunt for kids aged 9-14. This will be the 10th year we have run the treasure hunt. See the files for previous posters we have used (from DesignCrowd).


We loved everything about the 2012 design, particularly how all of the elements seem to belong exactly where they are on the poster. Previous years designs just had text blocks thrown on top of a background image which doesn't make a for a good poster; if within a few seconds you don’t have an idea about what even the poster is promoting, and if you can’t read every part of the poster from 6 feet away, the poster isn't working.

Please make the San Carlos Treasure Hunters logo a featured part of the design. See the 2012 poster winner where the logo was right at the top and very prominent.

Be the first team to unravel the mystery surrounding the “Return to Terror” and you will find the hidden treasure chest and claim a fantastic prize!
Youth ages 9-14 are able to participate. Team applications are available on Sept 1st and due ASAP. Space is limited to the first 50 teams.

Style: Scary, but remember the event is for children. Think 1950's vintage horror poster or even a modern graphic novel cover. The title of the hunt this year is “A Return to Terror”. The background story is that an event took place in 1929 and the person responsible is back and “haunting” the scene in 2014, so the two time points are linked. The design should reflect the linking of the two time points.
The design I have in mind is this: The “monster” is in the center of the poster, dividing it in two. He is standing in front of a church. The design of the poster is such that everything on the left hand side of the poster is from the 1920’s and everything on the right is from the 2000’s. There should be other items in the poster to indicate the time period, perhaps other pedestrians, automobiles, etc. Use your imagination. The “monster” himself also reflects this; his left hand side dress is from the 1920’s and he is a normal looking man, his right side is the “monster”. Think two-face from the comics (see here: http://coolworldz.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/27.jpg), but the monster doesn’t have to look as gruesome as he does. Some of the poster submissions from previous years were way too gruesome with the “monster”. Do keep in mind this event is for children. For good examples, see "SCTH 2012 Winner" below (our favorite to date), and the “SCTH 2013 winner” files below.
