Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I need a logo for small publishing firm, called Synaps.
Synaps means contactplace, connection between nerve cells...

Publishing firm will mainly publish my own books (mostly brainrelated but not only), Not going commercial (yet), but it is a vehicle for publishing my own books. (My books were published before).

The design should be small, highly recognisable because it is printed on spine of books. Actually: I do need something small for on spine of book, and Uitgeverij Synaps.
'Feel': modern, it is about connecting (linking science and practice, linking people etc).
