Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung
Who are We
www.honeynaturally.com.au (under construction and awaiting a logo)
Honey Naturally is a micro-apiary honey start-up using bee friendly Warre (http://www.warre.biobees.com/) hives located in suburbs and adjacent to rainforest areas on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Honey has its own taste profile based upon the region and the level of biodiversity existing in the area. Honey Naturally has as its goal the production of healthy, pollen rich honey using regenerative natural beekeeping (http://www.malfroysgold.com.au/naturalbeekeeping.html). Honey Naturally has grown out of Gold Coast Permaculture (http://goldcoastpermaculture.org.au/), a not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to creating urban food security and educating the public on how to grow its own food. This is essentially a social enterprise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_enterprise).
Gold Coast Permaculture has a bio-intensive urban farm demonstration project at 270 Ferry Road in Southport Queensland, Australia.
The Logo
The logo and associated label for honey bottles should appeal to the “urban chic”. The honey is a niche product and the logo should exude a strong impression of wild and raw honey and natural – as in natural beekeeping.
Ideally it should be simple and appealing – similar to a bottle of wine that has appeal because of the region, the geography and the soil. Again ideally, it should scream chic, raw, wild, natural. If colours are used then green, blue and yellow and black are the favoured few.

Why is Honey Naturally so different?
We currently have 10 hives and are looking to expand to four plus times this size. The hives are of a Warre design which is very bee friendly. We engage in Natural Beekeeping. This is a massive paradigm and mind-shift in beekeeping.
In our honey production, we do not re-use honey comb but allow the bees to go through the natural process of comb building and express their ‘bee-ness’ that would naturally occur in their wild state. In the harvesting process, we cut the comb out of the frame leaving only around 2mm at the top of the frame as a basic guide for the bees on which to build. This comb is then either crushed and the honey drained out, strained through muslin cloth and bottled or sold as comb. Honey production using this beekeeping method is typically only 30-50% of normal industrial production in Australia. It is a niche product and one that is delicious.
The result using the Warre system of natural beekeeping is the production of regenerative (the next step up from sustainable) artisan micro-batch honeys that directly reflect the unique characteristics of each apiary location and the flora of that location.
The goal of Honey Naturally is to have a total of 40 hives. 20 hives in the urban area and another 20 in the hinterland. Wild raw honey will be produced having four different terroirs. Two micro-apiaries will be established in the Gold Coast City urban area and another two in adjacent to the rainforest national park areas in Springbrook and Mt Tamborine.
