Web-Design Kurzbeschreibung

We need designs for a new web tool about Chinese characters.

There are two parts:
1. The Landing Page: This page is a standard HTML page and is largely free-format, at the discretion of the designer. The pre-existing assumptions would be:
- There would be some amount of header room at the top for our logo and some standard elements (such as a “login” button).
- We have an existing flash animation that would presumably go near the center-top (we would be willing to reposition or even omit this animation if the right design required it.) The flash contains some Chinese calligraphy samples.

Other than that the designer will determine the layout of this page. The key actions on the page will be to launch the other functional parts of the tool:
- Most important action: launch the Chinese Character Tool.
- Other areas that the user will need to be able to select:
- Tutorials
- FAQ
- Discussion Forum
- Blog (Periodic Articles)

2. Content Pages: Once the user chooses something from the Landing Page (primarily the Chinese Character Tool, but also other areas such as the tutorials), the page will mostly be comprised of the content itself.

For content pages, we need a set of graphical elements that are consistent with the Landing Page and extend our look-and-feel to other pages. These might be background images, framing images, button images, etc., that keep the feel of the design.

Anforderungen

Muss haben

• The design must have Chinese elements, in a classical style, reflecting Chinese culture and tradition.

Schön zu haben

• - Chinese elements might incorporate aspects of traditional Chinese calligraphy or painting.
  
  - The set of buttons will need different states (normal, disabled, clicked, rollover).
  

Sollte nicht haben

• - Must not have any English embedded in the graphical elements (text on the page needs to be able to be localized.)
  
  - Chinese elements must not be cartoonish or stereotyped (extreme examples would be: rickshaws, rice-paddy hats.) Also not so much folksy as cultured.
