Grafik-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I'm not quite sure how to describe this project. Essentially we're looking for a piece of digital art to be created. Ultimately we're looking for something that could be used either as a facebook wallpaper, desktop wallpaper, or printed, framed and hung up. The exact dimensions aren't critical.

We're looking for an artist to create an artwork that combines, in interesting and unique ways, a number of religious symbols/figures from Celtic and Nordic mythologies.

Symbols:

Yggdrasil - From Nordic mythology, Yggdrasil is the World Tree, that connects all of the Nine Worlds of Nordic lore. I don't want to depict the nine worlds or the connections, but an immense tree is important to what we're looking for. Possible with the roots of the tree extending to the foundations of the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yggdrasil

Odin - the All-Father, or most powerful god of Nordic mythology would also hang upside down in Yggdrasil. He had two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, who would fly all over the world each day and report everything they saw to him. The ravens should be in the artwork somehow. Odin himself does not need to be, but could be. Odin is usually depicted as a cloaked wanderer. Odin is also sometimes depicted as missing one eye, as he had to sacrifice it in one myth.

Morrigna - This a Celtic goddess. She is sometimes depicted as a single warrior goddess, fierce and powerful, often in black. In this form, she is referred to as The Morrigan. Sometimes she is depicted as a triple goddess depicting the three stages of womanhood - maiden, matron/mother, and crone. When she's depicted as a Triple Goddess, she's collectively referred to as the Morrigna, and there are several different names for the individual goddesses. Finally, she is sometimes depicted as a crone. In this form she is often referred to as the Cailleach. I've included all three types of imagery in the attached files.

Potential Symbols: These symbols might be interesting to add in, but not required.

The Moon - often closely associated with the Morrigna / Mother Goddess.

Water - life giving.

Concepts / Ideas:
Here are some thoughts and ideas about how you could thematically compose the artwork.

1) Morrigna and Odin opposing each other. The opposition shouldn't actually depict physical fighting, but tension and suggest a possible physical altercation.

2) Balance. The concept of masculine versus feminine balance is often an important one, and you could explore that concept a lot of ways between Morrigna and Odin, underneath the world tree. Or perhaps the balance of the two keeps the world tree from tearing apart, or properly supported, or the world tree supports the balance of the two.

3) Morrigna as a force of nature. You could show the Morrigan as a force of nature, at one with Yggdrasil or with some sort of massive natural force, like a tidal wave, or the wind, or sunlight, etc.

4) Morrigna alone, with a faint hint of Odin in the distance. Odin could be suggested by having the ravens in the tree.

5) The tree doesn't have to be an actual tree. It could be a symbol suggesting the tree, for example the "Yggdrasil" image shows a circular icon. It does need to be large. An actual tree would be good too.

The one artwork that I like the best among the sample images is the "1100x772_the_morrigan_2d_fantasy_celtic..." image. That one is beautiful, the art is amazing.

I've added a lot of sample images to help you figure out the types of images that we're looking to incorporate. This might be a complex project, but I'm really excited to see what sort of things people come up with.
