HollywoodPlayer™ Avatar System Samples Brief

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this brief. If you a movie-loving illustrator who also knows a little Flash, you are going to have a lot of fun with this project!

We are looking for an artist or team of artists who can create hundreds and hundreds of items – clothing, costumes, body parts, props, etc., for an online Flash-based avatar system.

This particular job will just be a small one with a few files to start, so that we can evaluate and find the best candidate for the larger job. The larger job will consist of creating hundreds of character sets and props.

The ideal candidate will also have a great knowledge and love of Hollywood movies, as the items for the avatar will all be movie-related.

The avatar system is already in place - we have a body style, and a system for managing and exporting the necessary illustrations in Flash. The artist will need to match the existing style as closely as possible, and make all the art fit the avatar. Templates will be provided, but creativity with the actual items is still highly encouraged!

Knowledge of Flash and Flash animations is a big plus, as the larger job will involve creating short little animations for some of the avatar items or props.

Here are the initial characters we would like you to create to see how your style fits what we are looking for. Please provide samples of any 4 characters, and any 4 props.

Technical documentation, existing asset samples, and movie reference files attached separately.

Wanted to add some more information so there is no confusion-


-although our avatar system is Flash-based, and ultimately everything will go through Flash for processing, all we really need for this "sample" project are illustration files, no animations necessary

-the whole point of this project is to get a good sense of design skills and creativity, and to see if you can match the existing art style at the same time

- the FLA template and sample asset files will be a big help to you if you just explore them for a few minutes you will get a feel for what needs to be done

- a complete "character" consists of any body parts (eyes, mouth, nose, hair, etc) and any costume/wardrobe items that belong on that character

- the technical instructions are mostly aimed at the larger project, when we actually need to start outputting all the little SWFs for real.  Not really necessary for this sample project, but I included it to give you an idea of where we were going.  I think all you really need to do is output the TooFoo body from the template FLA to Illustrator (it that's your preferred drawing tool) and start creating your layers.

We based the project price on how long it took a designer here to do a couple of characters- about an hour or hour and a half each.  I'm assuming props would take even less time.  

If you want to only do one or two characters for feedback before doing all of them that's ok.  If we like your work we'll want to see all four though.   Or if you want to do more than the four if you're having fun, go for it.
