Do you require and icon?

I was hoping for something modern looking with an icon or abstract idea/icon followed by the business name vulcan dental.

I like some of the logo's and concepts on this site: http://99designs.com/designer-blog/2013/08/13/33-dental-logos-that-arent-completely-lame/

I like how these logos don't just use the abstract molar tooth as the icon but I do like that some still incorporate a tooth into their design subtly. My design does not necessarily have to have a tooth in it at all.

If a star trek themed icon that incorporated a tooth or dentistry somehow looked modern and not cheesy I would consider it but I have a hard time visualizing it. That is why I have hired this out here on design crowd, hoping a creative genius comes up with something original and modern that can brand my business for a lifetime.
