Thanks for the question Rocio! I don''t have a preference as to whether the long side of the poster is horizontal or vertical. Please feel free to use whichever orientation best suits your design/vision for the project. That said, my experience the last time I did this project was that designers were better able to lay out everything vertically rather than horizontally. You can see this in the winning designs I have attached to the project description.
