Logo-Design Kurzbeschreibung

I'm looking for designers that can nail the attitude, culture and mission of ROCK U., a performance-based school of music for ages 7 - 17. At ROCK U. there are only three lessons our students need to learn.

1. Feel the Noise - Your sound is yours, own it and make it loud.
2. Come Together - Be a part of something... a band is way more than just a band.
3. Dream On - Life just like music is what you make of it so dream big.

We put kids right into bands matched with similar skills and interest and then coach them to perform a short set list of songs they choose. No kid ever gets excited about finishing 10 pages in a music theory work book so at ROCK U. we say "Stop Practicing and Start Rockin!"

We are looking for a strong logo that will appeal to both students and their parents. It should be iconic and feel Rock n’ Roll to the parents without seeming dated or cheesy to students. Think KISS, Rolling Stones and AC/DC. Keep in mind that the "U." is for university but doubles as "you" like "we will rock u" so I'd like to see that really work visually.

Hopefully you can tell how passionate I am about the concept and excited to see my Rock n Roll fantasy become a reality.

Check out these national francises that are competitors.I'm not looking for copies of these... If anyting I want something that stands apart. I just wanted to provide some examples of what competitors look like.

Parents of 7-17 year olds (so people age 30 - 55) likely to send kids to gymnastics and karate or other afterschool activities and camps in addition to music lessons. This needs to be a lifestyle brand for families that love music and have a little bit of rock star in them just waiting to get out.

• I'm looking for either a wordmark logo or emblem. Think about it this way, this logo needs to be somethng that in addition to signage, would go on an album cover or concert t-shirt.
  
  The "ROCK" in "ROCK U." needs to be iconic and and familiar, borrowing from stand out rock legend logos like KISS, Rolling Stones and AC/DC.

  The "U." in ROCK U. stands for university and I'm looking for the typographical treatment to play this aspect up. While "ROCK" and "U." need to hang together visually, there needs to be som contrast. Here are a few fonts that do a good job wiht capturing that feel:

Schön zu haben

• I'd be open to working in the universal hand sign for rock n roll and an electric guitar head into the logo but it would need to not look demonic or cartoony. These imgaes could be integrated into the negative space in the "R" and "U".
  
  I've included images of each as attachements as well as an example of an "R" with a hand integrated into it.
