Vintage poster/postcard for 2011 New Years Eve event with theme 'Nouveau Cirque'

I have had a major change of mind since the last brief due to my original requirements being too specific. I hope this new brief allows more scope for the designers and I am extending the deadline by 7 days.

For the first time my new business 'Hobart NYE' is planning an exciting, large scale New Years Eve fundraising event in Hobart Tasmania, Australia. The unique and eclectic theme of the party is 'Nouveau Cirque' (french for contemporary circus). I require a vintage style poster design (similar to a traditional french advertising poster) that can double as a postcard invitation so it must look good on a smaller scale as well.
